Things I'm building and have built.
Current
- habibahibrahim.com — This website. A personal corner of the internet, built and maintained by hand.
- Somalia Satellite Archive — A passion project using publicly available satellite and radar imagery to document and preserve archaeological and historical sites in Somalia. Not started yet, but the idea is alive.
- OSINT for Everyone — An introductory archival resource explaining what open-source intelligence is, why it matters, and how ordinary people can use it. Aimed at a general audience.
- Memory Project — A project exploring displacement, memory, war, and what it means to be a refugee. Still taking shape.
Upcoming
- Environment Faculty Alumni Wall, University of Waterloo — A digital showcase celebrating notable graduates of the Faculty of Environment. Being built during my co-op term in spring 2026.
Past
- CanAfro Research Institute (2025) — Lead researcher on three papers examining how Black people are depicted in Canadian textbooks, the mental health of East African youth in the Waterloo Region, and the history of Black Canadians in Southern Ontario.
Open Source
Ideas
- Investigative journalism work based in the Middle East.
- A deeper archival and documentation project at the intersection of conflict, memory, and the Somali diaspora.
